Water Resistance Information

JJCC Watch Brand

Guidance for Neromar, The Meridian, and other JJCC Watch Brand models

How Water Resistance Works

A watch’s water-resistance rating is determined through controlled laboratory testing. These tests measure how much static pressure a stationary watch can tolerate in still water
(1 bar ≈ 10 metres ≈ 33 feet).

While this measurement is useful, it doesn’t represent everyday wear. The moment you introduce movement, the water pressure on the watch increases sharply. Activities like swimming, diving into a pool, paddling, or even shower spray can create forces far greater than the watch would encounter at its rated depth.

For example, a watch marked 3 bar (30 m / 100 ft) is only designed to resist occasional splashes and should not be submerged.

JJCC Watch Brand provides the following guidance to help owners match their watch to the correct environment.

WATER-RESISTANCE LEVELS & SUITABLE USE

Rating Recommended Use
3 bar (30 m / 100 ft) Protected from rain or hand-washing only. Not suitable for immersion.
5 bar (50 m / 165 ft) Tolerates brief exposure to water, light swimming, but avoid high-pressure spray.
10 bar (100 m / 330 ft)Standard for JJCC Neromar & The Meridian models Safe for swimming, snorkeling, and most recreational water activities.
20 bar (200 m / 660 ft) Suitable for intense water sports and deeper recreational diving.
Professional Depth Ratings (300 m+ ) Designed for commercial or professional diving environments.

Always ensure the crown and any pushers are fully tightened before exposing the watch to water.

GASKETS & LONG-TERM WATER PROTECTION

To keep your JJCC Watch Brand watch sealed against the elements, precision gaskets are installed throughout the case. These components shield the movement from moisture, sweat, heat, UV exposure, cosmetics, and dust.

Over time, these seals naturally wear down. Because of this aging process, water resistance is not permanent and requires maintenance.

For watches used frequently in water

JJCC Watch Brand, recommends a yearly gasket replacement and pressure test, ideally scheduled before your main swimming or holiday season. This ensures that models such as the Neromar (330ft/100 m) and The Meridian (330ft/100 m) continue to perform reliably.

ABOUT HELIUM RELEASE SYSTEMS

Certain high-depth diving watches, typically those engineered to withstand 1000 m or more, may include a helium release mechanism. This specialized device prevents internal pressure buildup when divers spend extended time in pressurized environments filled with helium-rich breathing gas.

During decompression, the system releases trapped helium automatically to prevent damage to the crystal or case.

Because their rating is 100 m, the JJCC Watch Brand Neromar and Meridian models do not house this feature, as it is intended for professional saturation diving instruments. This may be included in future models.
